TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida A&M University (FAMU) will host its annual College of Love and Charity Awards (COLAC) on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 6 p.m. in Lee Hall.

The COLAC Award honors the excellence and impact of its student leaders, athletes, photographers, content creators, University departments, faculty, staff, student clubs, organizations, fraternities, sororities and advisors.

“The COLAC Awards represent the best of Florida A&M University,” said Cateatra Mallard, director of student activities. “Through this ceremony, we recognize the students, organizations, faculty and staff who shape our campus culture.”

Originally known as the “Trailblazer Awards” under the Office of Student Activities, the COLAC Awards have grown under the Campus Activities Board (CAB) to become a university-wide celebration of leadership, service and excellence.

“COLAC represents more than an awards ceremony,” said Edward Kincheon, assistant director of student activities and advisor for FAMU Campus Activities Board. “It is a celebration of excellence, leadership and the lasting impact our students and faculty make within the community and here on the Hill.”

This year, 32 awards will be presented to individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to campus life, exemplify FAMU’s core values and enrich the campus community.

“I will always cherish my journey as Campus Activities Board director, and the lessons I learned will forever impact my work ethic and professionalism for the better,” said Desiree Carter, director of the Campus Activities Board and past Emerging Student Leader of the Year award recipient.

FAMU is highlighting standout contributors as it prepares to celebrate the achievements of the 2025-2026 academic year.
